Kia ora, We're AWWA
AWWA is New Zealand's first period underwear brand. Indigenous founded & female owned, we're here to unpack the stigma around periods and reconnect menstruators to their cycle.
AWWA is derived from the Māori word 'awa' meaning river or flow. Māori referred to their period as te awa atua - the divine river. AWWA offers a world where every person can feel divine and empowered during their period
Made with care, for you & the earth
Whether it's the natural, organic and recycled fabrics we use, our toxin-free & ethical manufacturing, or our carbon-reduction strategies - AWWA aims to live by its social & environmental mission.

They are comfortable and secure!
Great for light days and so comfortable. I sized up from my usual size, and was glad I did because they fit perfectly.
AWWA is the best! I love this fit, the colors, and how comfortable they are. The waistband is high quality, it holds its shape much better than the Aisle waistbands. I much prefer AWWA’s brief style to Aisle’s hip hugger version.
OK, I have now tried four brands of owriod underwear with varying sucess. This pair feel snug and secure. The absorbency is great and they don't feel bulky around the butt which has been my pet peeve with other brands. LOVE. Recommending to everyone!
FAQ
How do I wash AWWA period underwear?
Simply rinse in cold water, then wash on a cold cycle with your normal clothes. Hang to dry. Avoid fabric softener as it leaves a residue that inhibits absorbency.
Where are AWWA period underwear made?
AWWA underwear is made in two factories in Sri Lanka and China. Both our partner factories pay a fair wage and have processes and practices in place to reduce their waste output, and source sustainable fabrics.
How do AWWA period underwear work?
AWWA period-proof underwear look and feel just like your normal underwear, but can absorb menstrual flow and stop leaks, thanks to our innovative fabric technology.
A soft, moisture-wicking organic cotton top layer draws fluid away from your skin and into the super-absorbent core, while the breathable, waterproof barrier prevents leaks. Our anti-microbial technology keeps you fresh and odor-free, all day long.
